Chris DeVries had organized a BLM protest in North Conway in June of 2020, which he called "Skate Away the Hate"; which involved riding bikes and skateboards from Schouler Park to Depot Road and back in the New Hampshire White Mountains town of North Conway.
As a BLM protest organizer, Christ DeVries has also called for the divesting of funds from police and prison systems.
Mr DeVries had served on the Municiplac Budget Committee for North Conway from 2015 - 2017.
Chris DeVries was charged with 6 counts of Possessing Child Sexual Abuse Images, 1 count of Possessions of Psilocybin Mushrooms, and 1 count of falsifying physical evidence; all of this just a single month after having organized the "Skate Away the Hate" protest.
This arrest was done after an investigation that occurred from information provided to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children by Snapchat. The charge of falsifying evidence happened because Mr DeVries had thrown his cellphone from the porch when Law Enforcement arrived; on the cellphone was images that showed underaged girls in "lewd exhibition" of private parts or engaging in sexual activity, according go the Daily Sun.
Chris DeVries surrendered to the authorities and began his prison sentence on 1/27/2021. His sentence includes a 7.5 - 15 years in prison suspended for 5 years, a $4,000 fine, and he must register as a sex offender along with complying with his probation.
