Warren Street in Roxbury is one of what the government calls "low-income communities"; meaning that it's a crime and non-White filled hellhole.
Several lawmakers make hollow remarks about its closing - including Senator Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey - who joined a handful of local protesters in front of the store; asking for Walgreens not to close it.
This is the 4th Walgreens in Boston to close in just over a year. These are part of the 200 closures Walgreens has planned on for the year.
Of the several lawmakers who joined in on the protest, U.S Representative Ayanna Pressley joined in and said the following.
"When a Walgreens leaves a neighborhood they disrupt the entire community and they take with them baby formula, diapers, asthma inhalers, life-saving medications, and of course jobs. These closures are not arbitrary and they are not innocent. They are threatening life acts of racial and economic discrimination".
