On June 17, 2023, Boston Police were called to 381 Old Colony Avenue - Mary Ellen McCormack Housing - in South Boston due to a report of a man who had gone into cardiac arrest on the premises of this public housing complex.
When the police arrived they had found 6 adults in the apartment and quickly located 4 children - ranging in age from 5 to 10 - who were being hidden from the police in a back room by one of the men; who was wearing a wig and claimed to be the childrens' father.
In this apartment the Boston Police and Boston Fire Department found alcahold, drugs and sex toys out in the open; along with the dead man who died from a cardiac arrest.
"This is sickening" said At-Large City Councilor Michael Flaherty. "I was informed by people at the scene that there were drugs, alcohol, sex toys all around the apartment as well as a dead body on the floor".
According the Boston Fire Deparment's report of the scene:"The apartment was in extremely unsanitary conditions. Aproximately 6 adults, who appeared to be males (trannies), were seen in the apartment", they wrote; saying they frequently found "4 children in the back bedroom being hidden by an adult male from first responders.All of the adult parties were being uncooperative and did not provide helpful information. All adults present denied having children inside the apartment" they wrote in the report.
They also filed a 51A form with the appropiate state agency. This form is available for download from the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families and is titled "Report of Chil(ren) Alleged to be Suffering from Abuse or Neglect".
The Boston Herald attempted to get in contact with a DCF agent, but they could not be reached to comment on the disposition of the children due to the Junteenth federal holiday.
Michael Flaherty, Public Safety chairman on the countil, told the Herald that the dead body found on the floor was "from an apparent overdose" and that "a man wearing a wig, claiming to be the father of the kids was found in a back bedroom".
Multiple sources had reported that the adults were dressed as women when first responders arrived at the scene.
No mention of any arrests can be found by this writer at this time.
