Dale Holloway, 41, had barged into the New England Pentecostal Ministries church in Pelham, New Hampshire on October 12, 2019. He ended up shooting Bishop Stanley Choate in the chest and the bride, Claire McMullen, in the arm according to court documents.
This shooting was a "revenge shooting" fo his step-fathe, Luis Garcia, who was an ordained minister at the church and was fatally shot 11 days before the wedding. His step-father was shot while working on a painting job at Brandon Canstiglione's residence; who had ultimately ended up killing him with a single shot.
Dale Holloway entered the church on the morning of October 12, 2019 during the wedding ceremony fo Ms McMullen and Mark Castiglione, the father of Brandon Castiglione. At the end of the wedding, Dale Holloway stood up and walked toward the alter, at which point the Bishop Choate stretched out his arms and pleaded with him, "Son, no, no, no". Holloway then shot the bishop and the bride. He also struck Mr Castiglione in the head before churchgoers tackled him to the ground.
In November, 2019 Dale Holloway was convicted by a juy of attempted 1st degree murder and many other charges; including being a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon.
His sentencing happened yesterday, resulting in 40 years to life on the attempted murder charge, to be served consecutively with 2 concurrent 10-to-30 year sentences for the assault and weapon possession charges.
Dale Holloway tried to argue that his crimes was the result of mental illness, but was unseccessful in convincing the jury, Justice Temple said. The nature of the crime, and his history of violence led Justice Temple to conclude that Dale Holloway's rehabilitation "has to occur behind the walls of the state prison".
He is currently serving a seven-and-a-half-to-15-year sentence for assaulting his lawyer in 2019.
